"The 99" is now available in comic book stores!

From the website:
In Saudi Arabia, a massive, hulking creature has escaped from a government holding facility, and no force on earth can stop him.
In Paris, A UNESCO official, psychiatrist and historian, dreams of world peace and chases ancient legends about mystical gemstones.
In the UAE, the kidnapped daughter of a tycoon escapes, bringing with her a gift and a curse - an enduring and ugly vision of a dying world.
And sitting in his dark tower, an ancient and powerful evil, spoken of only in legend, watches and waits for the signs that his true reign is near.
This is only the beginning. For soon, destiny will seek out the chosen from among those once forsaken. 99 gems containing the light of ancient wisdom lie scattered across the world waiting to be discovered. Those who possess the gems will wield untold power never before seen by mortal man. The salvation of the universe set in motion from the beginning of time lies now in the hands of those who dare to strive for it. Led by one man, a man dedicated to discovering the knowledge that was lost, these unlikely heroes and heroines must overcome great odds in their battle against the darkness, both in the outside world, and within their own souls.
They are The 99 and the fate of the known universe depends on them.
The 99 are the world's first superheroes conceived from Islamic culture. The comic book features the talents of writer Fabian Nicieza and artists Dan Panosian, John McCrea and James Hodgkins.

I think I speak for all my fellow comic geek Muslims when I say
FUCKIN
SWEET,
DUDE
Yes, and may I point out given our other conversations here on the website, this is a proper use of vulgarity. Saying a comic is "fuckin sweet dude" is clearly not the same as calling someone a large rubber object used to wash the nether regions of the female of the species. Yes, DA, it is fuckin sweet.
Speaking of cool geek things that Muslims tend to adore. George Lucas finally put out the theatrical release version of Star Wars. I am going to handbrake it tonight for my ipod, insha'Allah. Never to be without the force.
The Force is always with you, dear Sister Laury :)
As to this comic book idea, I am an old comic collector also (or was, until my son took them all), and can't wait :)
Ya Haqq!
Nice!
I have been spoiled by Stan Lee and others artistic masters. I hope the Islamic world knows the same thrills that one gets when reading Spiderman, Superman, or Xmen.
(g-d I hope the name of the enemy in the comics doesn't rhyme with zionists) :)
George Lucas is such a douchebag though :-P okay, sorry, but man....I grew up loving the original star wars sooooo much and he "taped over" the original trilogy (his words) and now makes horrible CGI-"enhanced" transfers from laserdisc. And don't even get me STARTED on those prequels. Ugh.
Jordan- Yeah, I hope that it isn't "valiant Muslims verses the zionist enemy", but even if it were, it would really be no worse than the racist Muslim menaces Marvels used to put out :-)
I have to agree with you on the DB remark for GL.
I bought THX 1138, idiotic digital "enhancements"
Just makes me want to watch Tron all day long, seriously.
At least this SW is not enhanced in the sense that characters are added or Hans is made into a good guy (does not shoot first).
The 99 will not go in that direction. Trust me.
The CEO and writer used to work as a psych guy for torture victims. He wrote childrens books about tolerance. They are internationally known. He is trying to build bridges here.
It is in the Marvel Universe too, so I am sure no allies of the US will get dissed.
These are a delight!
I remember seeing these on some TV show previewed. Ad-Daarr is Curt Cobain in a wheel chair! OK!?!? Is al-Grungey one of the 99 Names of Allah?ÂÂ
I think Courtney was the pain.
