Are Muslims Even Prepared for Victory?

I agree that Israel has more than its share of philosophical and historical problems to solve. But, I'm not Jewish and I don't give a damn about what's happening with thier internal disputes. We Muslims had problems before Zionism was even born; Muslims had problems with the US even before Bush was elected. Granted, most of the dislike is due to US support, often blindly, of Israel. But, our internal difficulties will not end when Israel does (as if it would anytime soon, so get it out of your mind).

However, imagine if Bush gets impeached tomorrow; imagine if Israel decided to disolve itself and they all submitted to Muslims or sailed away. Then what?! Do you think that Muslims who live in the West would not still have cultural problems? Do you think that Islamist groups would stop wanting to impose coercion in religion on people ("Laa ikraah-a fee d-deen" There is no compulsion in religion)? I don't. I think Islamist groups would start wars with each other, especially if they manage to capture more states as they did with the Palestinian state (well, sort of captured it, at least until a good portion of thier parilament and cabinent were themselves captured by Israeli forces). I think the Sunni-Shia thing would erupt into the open everywhere just as it has in Pakistan and Iraq. Then, how do Islamist ideologies and paradigms explain that? Weak iman? Well, the Prophet said that iman rises and falls as is the nature of things, so does this comdemn us to perpetual re-experience problems that non-Muslims address, sometimes quite successfully?  Thus faith as a replacement for scientific and even common sense solutions doesn't seem to be much of a solution in itself, or if it is a solution when dealing with cultural problems, its certainly the brute force approach.

I think we would see a replay of Afghanistan where the Muslims fall into fighting with each other, doing more damage to the cities than the Soviets ever did and creating more refugees. Just look at the behavior of some Muslims these days. You think they would mature just because Israel goes away? Nope. We have to look inward and fix our house at the same time, becuase we have to plan for what happens after. We have over a billion people; surely we can afford to devote some brain power to multiple problems at once. Does not the Quran say to uphold justice; but does it only say justice for Muslims? Being Muslim has become just another nationalism to many who ignore harms done to anyone who isn't Muslim. My going the opposite direction may or may not introduce balance into things, but I'm certainly not going to go against my instincts just to fall into line with people who claim to act Islamically.

So, while we have conflicts and wars and genocides, we really also have to think how we can deal with each other gracefully, since after all there perhaps may someday be no external enemy to unify us and help us to temporarily submerge our differences, dissents, and even animosities. Let's not put them off until after the conflict after next!
