My proclivity to find out what everyone is thinking brings us the Carnival Against Islamofascism. While its true that there may be posts and opinions that offend your tastes and prejudices, remember, that interaction and synergy is far more of an effective remedy and method of persuasion than rolling your eyes and putting up a virtual middle finger.
Plank's Constant tells us why there are only 72 virgins in Paradise. After posting some news items relating to honor killings, he says stop worrying about being an Islamophobe and admit about Islam all those nasty things that are true about it. This might be the first time I've seen a whole paragraph written in individualized hyperlinks. Incredible.
Shiloh's Musings, from Shiloh, Israel, offers a few images that she finds relevant in today's world.
Useless Drivel offers a post related to the rising fuel costs and finds that the liberal environmentalists are largely to blame. The blogger notes in a personal note that admittedly this has little to do with Islamofascism directly, the liberal element in our society is indirectly assisting them because of their challenging of the current administration.
Zionist.com informs us about the Somali warlords who killed Muslims for watching football. Personally, if I find any of you guys watching Italy ever again I'll stop speaking to you.
Jack Yoest, who is a pretty good guy, and who has a Muslim business partner (whose wedding pics he sent me), talks about the plurality of British opinions on the even of 7.7 London. I like Jack. Just look at him.
Centrerion Canadian Politics talks about 10 key issues affecting Canadian politics. This is not my area of expertise but I know we have Canadian in the house, eh hoser?
The Templar Times talks about the alchemy that Islam needs, addressing why she is no friend to Islam as it is, but does want to be a friend to Islam as it could be. While she is hopeful about reformers, she doesn't tell them what to do.
Debt Free talks about the kind of body armor our soldiers need and why they deserve the best.
I hope you all enjoy this installment of the Carnival Against Islamofascism.
We will be hosting the Carnival of Comedy on August 3rd.
Also, I am working with Aziz to get the Carnival of Brass off the ground. It will be blogistan's most comprehensive Islamic carnival. You know why? Cuz the big boys have signed up. Namely, Aziz and me (that's right, time for some much needed daily self-congratulations -- attaboy Ali E).
Finally, check out Faith Commons Dot Org. A site for all religions.

Hey!
Thanks for hosting the carnival. For those who don't know, the reason I submitted my post on Canadian politics is that amongst the key issues are obviously national security and fighting islamist/islamofascist terrorism.

We Muslims do a lot of murder and carnage. And yes a lot
of us do have fascistic tendentcies. And yet it is the
US and Israeli bombs which kill more civilians. Then why are
those m***er fu**ers still considered to be heroic and more
righteous? Why even consider that they may actually be doing
anything right? Srcrew them and their ways!!!!
For all their reformations, Christianity is the most bloodiest
religion in history. And even now after they have instituted
their walls of seperation between church and state, it is
their hands which have the most blood on them. Once again
screw them and their ways!!!!
You have to admit, its been one crazy week. India, Thailand, Somolia, and of course Israel... it never seems to stop.
I have true believing Muslim friends who can NEVER hurt a living soul as everybody else here does as well. But I don't know... sometimes I am worried that what we think is the rule is in fact the exception to the rule.
Tonight I was with some Persian-Muslim friends. One guy, who is completely cool with me being Jewish, remarked how happy he is that Iran is getting the bomb. I asked him if he was worried about a pscyhopathic fascist who desires to destroy Israel will now be armed. While clearly he has no love for the Iranian government, his pride that Iran can stand up to America overuled his worries.
G-d help us all!
I have to say, Hassan-al-makdis pretty much sums up my concerns nicely.
Yes the actions of Israel and America lead to deaths of civilians. But you can't honestly believe that they INTENTIONALLY try to kill women and children, do you?
Hizballah and Hamas don't wear uniforms. They don't seperate themselves from civilian cities. They use innocent people as human shields and even human bombs.
They don't distinguish between civilian and soldier. They don't care if the people riding the trains in India are children. They only care that they are infidels.
How the hell do you fight that?
Golda Mier once said "I can forgive you for killing our sons, but I will never forgive you for making us kill yours"
The only way their will be world peace is if every country becomes capitolist-democratic. Fascist, tribal, Communist, and Islamic nations fight themselves and democracies all the time. But democracies never attack other democracies. Its the only system that has proven itself, while every other system has proven they can only fail.
"Yes the actions of Israel and America lead to deaths of civilians. But you can't honestly believe that they INTENTIONALLY try to kill women and children, do you?"
You can't honestly believe they don't know that women and children will be killed in the process, can you?
This is war, sir. No way you paint it is going to look pretty. I excuse no one. Not the terrorists, and not the governments whose indiscriminate use of force helps create more terrorists. No one's hands are clean, no one is righteous, and more importantly no one is right.
But as for your exception vs. rule thing, common sense must tell you that this assumption is wrong. 1 out of 5 people on this planet is a Muslim. If all or most of them were out committing acts of violence, you wouldn't be reading about hit-and-run bombings, you would be reading about the conquest of the known world. And look at it this way: a very large proportion of the people killed by terrorism are Muslims. Look at Iraq. Look at Egypt. Look at Chechnya. Look at Jordan. Believe me when I say that support for these people is dwindling as rapidly as it rose, for the simple reason that they have no qualms killing their own.
Ali did you join this carnival to bring really nasty people to our site?
I for one do not talk to many non-Muslims about this sort of stuff cause I have found it to be useless. And I am not an apologist, trust me on this one you carnival clowns. Y'all are about as historically and intellectually on the ball about Islamic History as Dan Brown is about Christian History. I don't mean because he breaks with orthodoxy. Who cares! I mean, his FACTS are wrong. Now you'll say "Okay, Boots, let's see the facts on why Islam is not what I say it is!" But the thing is this, we Muslims have given you the facts and you don't listen. You'll have to use google yourself now. That said, please stay and enjoy our site and learn something, even do something called "asking questions." I will now go and find my old post "The Con of Moderate Islam" and reprint it.
I joined and speak to groups like this b/c I think that all people can agree that terrorism is a threat, so our 'goals' are the same.
While I do often find that I disagree with and find reductive their vision of history, I have found that it is so, not because of animus, but because of lack of availability. On most of these sites, Islam is explained by 1) Bernard Lewis, 2) Manji and 3) Ibn Warraq. Every other writer on Islam, like Karen Armstrong, Le Gai Eaton, Sherman Jackson, have been made out to be children of satan for so long that some people cannot even conceive of other sources. Our intent should be to offer more sources instead of letting a whole class of people be educated solely by Manji. I think that's part of the 'progressive' burden -- to wrest authority away from unprincipled people like her and to speak to those who haven't had any other Muslims ever speak to them.
"have been made out to be children of satan"
And here Armstrong is an ex-nun...
I can see and appreciate Ali's participation in these kinds of things for the same reason it makes me happy to know that Michael Moore is a member of the NRA. I don't think I could hack it, but I'm glad someone can.
