Happy birthday, Omar G!

Happy haps Omar! Which one is you in the pic?

May the celebration of the day of your birth be as joyous as every day of your life :)

Ya Haqq!

Well, thank you kindly; its no longer the shock it used to be since I passed the big Three-Oh last year. Since this is one of the few Muslim sites where people can do math (Oh, snap!), that means I'm 31. This must be the work of my scheming wife; I had hoped Islam would teach her not to publicize her husband's march towards old age... JOKING! Thanks, all. I'm truly flattered and our well wishes are truly appreciated.

many happy returns of the day!
but that doesn't answer the question: are you superman, or batman? =)

hey Omar we may not agree on much but I'd say we have interesting
conversations. Have a happy birthday.

ginan

I thought in the religion of killjoys, birthdays were haram past the age of 10?!

Hahahahaha, so OmarG, when are you coming to the Red County of San Diego, so we can meet?

Thank you Ginan, and it *is* a good thing to converse freely on things. Zeeshan, I think I'm supposed to be the boy, but Batman has my perpetual 5 o'clock shadow and Superman has that Dego-like-Sean-Penn thing going... Gustavo, I might be there in a semi-permanent capacity if I get a position I'm looking into...and it ain't on MCAS Miramar or Camp Pendleton, so don't worry; i didn't go back to Corps even though I can't let myself grow big hair or a goatee even when I can ;-)

Happy birthday, Omar.

Happy birthday man!

I look forward to meeting you and meeting the "representative" of the Italian-American Muslim.

We could try out Jamillah (halal Chinese food near ICSD).

The khutba was terrible today. And the imam delivering it was of a Hispanic background.

Hmm, there is/was a Jamilah Garden in Tustin, CA in Orange country. That would be great if they are franchising nowadays. I walked in once the day after I arrived at Marine Corps Air Station Tustin as a 20 year old lance corporal. It was New Year's Eve and i had no idea what was in the area; I saw that name on a sign and went in. She recognized me each time I went in after that, since we had a long talk about what being Muslim in China is like. Ah, fond memories.

Uh, meaning Jamilah is a real person, and she's really Chinese; its not just another chain restauarant...

There is one on Convoy and Engineer between Clairemont Mesa and Balboa, near ICSD. It is also called Jamillah Garden (halal Chinese food).

You have to answer this for me, how did you become a Salafi while being in the military?!

Most Salafis I meet are rather "anti-American" and I don't use the term lightly.

Today, I experienced anti-Arab racism from a woman who thought I was an "A-rab." I'm thinking in my head, "Dude, I'm half Persian and Mexican, call me an illegal immigrant, but don't insult me!" Hahahahaha!!!!

>>You have to answer this for me, how did you become a Salafi while being in the military?!

I didn't; I was snapping out of it by the time I joined up after coming home from the 'B' country. I promise I'll write it up soon.

'B' country, Bahrain?

Cool man, I look forward to hearing about your Salafi phase!

Well, i've been there, too, but I meant the Bosnian kind of 'B' country. Maybe I'll talk more about that next July 11, the 12th anniversary.
