This is what I think of the whole WTF Conspiracy Bunk. Someone please tell me about a conspiracy theory that ever, ever turned out to be true! Turns out, whoops, the Rosenbergs actually did it. Yo, what about the Apollo Moon Landing Hoax!? OJ was in the movie about it, maybe he was set up for the murder of his wife to keep him quiet!?
I'm not talking about CIA coups of democratically elected governments, US support of the Taliban and the Saudis, and this century's "Great Game" being played in the Middle East. All of that and more adds up to the US's part in this on-going mess of which 9/11 was one part. None of that is conspiracy. All of that is history and news.
When I say conspiracy, I mean conspiracy. Conspiracy is not the same as understanding the unvarnished, complicated, disgusting truth of history.
In the end, the primary responsibility of 9/11 lies in the hands of the Muslims who perpetrated the acts. Rosie's liberal deflections do not do us any good. Rosie, how about Muslims are in this mess and you ought to support us as we continue to clean up our part in it? Muslims are coming at this problem from all sides! Why can't Rosie talk about that? Why can't Rosie use her considerable media power to talk about the very real injustices and power relations going on right now? Isn't that scary enough?
Or maybe Rosie is a chump in a vast conspiracy to keep folks from looking at the real truth of 9/11?

Love the photos. I understand they were a prop for a different point, but I must say watching the sound bytes edited for television from Al Qaeda and from certain members of the current US administration reminds me a lot of the late eighties/early nineties WWF trash talk rants. And for those who remember that, it was always such stimulating monologue ("Whatchya gonna do, when our ideology runs over you!?!").
On a related note, I found McCain's remarks at the recent Presidential debate to be especially thematic, only in that case it reminded me of a hybrid between a challenge being thrown down the week before Wrestlemania and a scene from of Wrath of Khan --

omg! rofl! "I will follow him to the gates of hell!" Exactly!!! Now it coulda been a promo if had emoted properly. He could do a Stone Cold thing, don't you think? Seriously, it is so hard not to hear any politician's ranting without taking it as a promo. Performance, performance, performance. I never watched those al-Qa'ida rants. Now I gotta go find them on you tube! I have to come up with a five minute promo for my class this week, perhaps I should work with the jihadist gimmick and use them as inspiration.
