Resigning CAIR chairman calls for more inclusion of younger, less religious muslims

Jacksonville resident Parvez Ahmed has resigned as chairman of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, saying he's frustrated about the national organization's failure to be more proactive and positive in its promotion of Muslim civil rights.

The nation's most well-known Muslim advocacy group, which he has led as board chairman since 2005, also needs to be more inclusive of younger, less-religious Muslims and encourage regular turnover of leadership ranks to ensure an infusion of new ideas, he told the Times-Union on Monday, a day after resigning.

Just got back from the Islamic Circle of North America conference in Hartford. CAIR speaker Ahmed Rehab advocates for Muslims to get out there and make blogs in order to combat Islamophobia. He's right on. There are 7 million muslims in this country. I read CAIR's email letter and read this quote from a representative:

Mosque leaders, filled with hope, chose a patch of land in a predominantly black area.

"They picked that spot because they were sympathetic to the black struggle and believed the feelings were mutual, especially since the persecution after 9/11," said Altaf Ali of CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations. . .

Aaaahaaa, haaahaaa. I just can't stop laughing, oh please help me, someone, oh, oh, its too mcuh, haaahaaa...

Oh boy, I almost busted my gut on that one. Perhaps, its because land is cheaper in depressed neighborhoods? Nah, it wouldn't be something like that, eh.
