a technorati thing I have to do....

Since Ali left us, no one has done any of those things that one has to do to keep one's blog hot on the web.  We can't get trackbacks with drupal (oh well), we never link within our blogs to each others posts (this apparantly creates fabber ratings on technorati), we do not scour other web blogs and try to network and all that.  Oy, I've only got so much time in the day.  I also just don't have the emotional energy to care.  That said, the least I can do is claim the blog on technorati and let it do its stuff.  To do that, I need to post this post and make this link.  There, I am done.  Now technorati will sell our site for us, all that.  If anyone here is a Public Relations person with too much time on their hands, seems to grasp our mission, and wants to help out, please lend a hand.  I'm not going to do it.

I guess we are doing okay without trying too hard.  We are at 17, 540.  I think that is pretty good.  Not sure!  All that without the little tricks of inner-blog links!  Well, masha'Allah.

Thanks, Laury. But I must say that personally I think this technorati stuff is very overrated. There are not that many sites on the internet dealing with liberal/progressive Muslim issues. Most people with a real interest in this sort of thing will find us easily enough.

Technorati routinely adjusts

Technorati routinely adjusts for "tricks" like self-linking. The score you get for doing that isn't very high, relative to unique blogs linking to you.

In any case, MENA/Islam issues are always going to be a niche market of sorts. Making yourself known in the exisiting community (e.g. by commenting occasionally) will likely draw visitors to your site.

Traffic to me has always been less important than the quality of discussion. Better to let things grow naturally.

Masha'Allah, well we are signed up let it do its thing. I agree with you both on the quality of discussion. Both of you post here more so that we might keep it high. Zeeshan is supposed to, Eerie we welcome you. Bonkers is doing her part.

How is Lounsbury doing? I haven't read his blog in a long time, he seemed to be quite sick then. God willing he's doing better. I'll have to go check in and read his posts. Peace, Laury
